‘Project Blue Book’ Season 2 Release Date, Spoilers And Cast Revealed

Fans of History’s Project Blue Book are in for a treat. The historical drama television series just wrapped up its first season, but executive producer Sean Jablonski is already teasing what fans should expect from the forthcoming Season 2.

In a post-finale interview with Entertainment Weekly, executive producer Sean Jablonski said Antarctica will be the gateway to a lot of story in Project Blue Book Season 2. It also ties back to Operation Highjump, officially titled “The United States Navy Antarctic Developments Program,” which happened from 1946 to 1947.

“The Antarctic holds a lot of secrets and ties back to Operation Highjump, which happened in the early ’40s following World War II when our government [and] military felt that the Nazis had discovered alien technology and bases in the Antarctic,” executive producer Sean Jablonski explained. “There’s a lot of sort of energy around it now – by that I mean, a lot of curiosity about what’s going on in the Arctic right now where you can see pyramids on Google Earth,” he added.

Executive producer Sean Jablonski also shed some light on the glowing obelisk shown in the mind-boggling finale of Project Blue Book Season 1 that aired on March 12. Opposite of what many viewers assumed, the glowing obelisk is not an antenna for the aliens. He, however, kept mum on what exactly it is.

Nonetheless, fans will not have to wait that long since the first episode of Project Blue Book Season 2 will immediately address those burning questions. The next installment will also dive into Captain Michael Quinn (Michael Malarkey) and Dr. J. Allen Hynek (Aidan Gillen) having to deal with the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) changing the project’s entire mandate.

Project Blue Book Season 2 will also see the return of Laura Mennell as Mimi Hynek, Ksenia Solo as Susie Miller, Michael Harney as General Hugh Valentine, Neal McDonough as General James Harding, and Robert John Burke as William Fairchild.

As for the release date, no exact date has been set yet. But fans can expect Project Blue Book Season 2 to premiere in January 2020, considering the first installment’s release date. It will also have 10 episodes, just like its predecessor.

The forthcoming Project Blue Book Season 2 will be executive produced by Robert Zemeckis, Jack Rapke, and Jackie Levine of Compari Entertainment. David O’Leary serves as a creator, executive producer, and writer along with Sean Jablonski and Barry Jossen.

UK Updates reports that PROJECT BLUE BOOK has been renewed ahead of it’s planned UK premiere. This goes with what was reported by History after the show’s successful first season run. More below.

Project Blue Book Renewed Before UK Premiere

By Trixie Pacis | 12 Mar 2019 at 6:48pm

The cosmos continues to fascinate mankind and while we wait for signs of extraterrestrial life, Robert Zemeckis’ hit UFO drama Project Blue Book will return for a second series, the news comes before Project Blue Book has even started to air on UK TV. Deadline reports that History has made a 10-series order of the show.

The order comes amidst top ratings. Just last month, Project Blue Book ranked number 1 for new series on cable in the US with an average of 3.4 million viewers in L+3. Deadline credits the show for driving History to the number 1 spot amongst cable networks as far as Tuesday night prime viewership is concerned.

“We are believers in Project Blue Book and so is our audience who has sparked a conversation about the hundreds of unsolved cases and our nation’s military response to UFOs that have remained relatively secret until now,” Executive Vice President and Head of Programming and History Eli Lehrer stated.

“Zemeckis, A+E Studios and our extraordinary creative team have shaped a compelling narrative that is the perfect blend of historical authenticity and entertainment that inspires curiosity in our viewers to learn more. We’ve touched on a very relevant topic and look forward to a second season.”
What is Project Blue Book about?

Based on true top-secret U.S. military operations to identify unidentified flying objects, the series follows UFO researcher Dr. Josef Allen Hynek.

Unfolding events are inspired by Hynek’s true personal experiences. The U.S. Air Force recruited Hynek, then a brilliant college professor, to lead an underground government operation researching the thousands of UFO sightings that took place in the 1950s and 60s. Allegedly, there are over 700 unsolved cases to this day.

Each episode of Project Blue Book draws from actual case files, combining them with authentic historical events from one of the most thrilling eras of U.S. history. Real incidents explored in the series include the Gorman Dogfight of Fargo, the North Dakota Flatwoods Monster of West Virginia, the Lubbock Lights of Texas, and the Chiles-Whitted UFO Incident of Montgomery, Alabama, to name a few.
Who is behind the series?

Project Blue Book is produced by A+E Studios in association with Compari Entertainment. Robert Zemeckis, the Academy award-winning director and producer behind the Back to the Future trilogy and Forrest Gump executive produces.

Zemeckis works alongside Sean Jablonski (Nip/Tuck) who serves as showrunner, co-executive producer, and writer. David O’Leary is a creator, writer, and co-executive producer on the series. Other EP’s include Jack Rapke, Jackie Levine, and Barry Jossen.

Aidan Gillen stars as lead character Dr. Josef Allen Hynek. This Game of Thrones and Peaky Blinders alum is best recognized for his role as Petyr Baelish (aka Littlefinger) in GoT. Deadline describes Hynek as a “brilliant college professor recruited by the Air Force to spearhead this clandestine operation that researched thousands of cases, many of which never were solved”.

Neal McDonough plays General James Harding, who oversees the affairs of Project Blue Book. His previous small screen appearances include Suits, Arrow, and The Flash.

Laura Mennell (The Man in the High Castle, Watchmen) stars as Josef’s wife Mimi.

The Vampire Diaries’ Michael Malarkey stars as Captain Michael Quinn while Orphan Black’s Ksenia Solo plays Susie Miller.
When does it air?

In the U.S., Project Blue Book Series 1 currently airs on Tuesdays at 10pm ET/PT on History.

Like its predecessor, Series 2 will also consist of 10 episodes when it eventually airs.

But more importantly…
When will Project Blue Book air on UK TV?

Despite yet another pesky delay, viewers across the pond will get to see what the fuss is all about rather soon.

Series 1 will premiere in the UK at 9pm on March 27th on SyFy.

Although there is no official release date for Series 2 in the UK, we do expect to find out relatively soon given History’s recent renewal announcement.
Did you know there’s a podcast?

While it offers a nice compliment to the show, those worried about spoilers may want to hold off until after the series airs. The podcast features cast members and creatives who discuss episodes and cases in detail.

First of all so sorry for the lack of updates. I know VAN HELSING aired it’s season two premiere, but I haven’t been able to see it yet, let alone cap it up for the gallery. When I do I’ll post that plus a HQ still I have. Again so sorry. For now here is an article about Laura’s new series LOUDERMILK where she plays Allison. I might have some promo shots and posters from the series. When that comes on I’ll have the screencaps for you as the show airs. I’m also working on a new layout. Not sure what I’m going to be doing…..

2 new comedies: ‘Loudermilk’ full of laughs, ‘Hit the Road’ just full of it

By David Wiegand The San Francisco Chronicle
October 13, 2017 Updated: October 13, 2017 1:37pm

Sam Loudermilk doesn’t care a whit if you like him. Ken Swallow will do almost anything to win you over.

The lead characters of the new AT&T Audience Network comedies, “Loudermilk” and “Hit the Road,” couldn’t be more unalike. The two shows couldn’t be more unalike either, as you’ll see when they premiere on Tuesday, Oct. 17: “Loudermilk” is a sweet-and-sour gem. “Hit the Road” is television roadkill.

Sam Loudermilk (Ron Livingston) is a former rock journalist and recovering alcoholic who now works as a substance abuse counselor, holding group meetings at a local Catholic church. He is brash, antisocial, irritating, impatient, irascible, generally indifferent to what others think of him and a counterintuitively likable antihero. He rooms with his sponsor, Ben (Will Sasso), regularly tests the patience of Father Michael (Eric Keenleyside) and exercises tough love when it comes to working with his recovery group. He’s as misanthropic about his personal life as he is about his job. Yet, in spite of the fact that he offends new neighbor Allison (Laura Mennell) at their first meeting, she ends up liking the guy. Grudgingly, so do many others.

Father Michael is ready to evict the recovery group from the church because of Loudermilk’s bad behavior, but gives him one last chance: He can stay if he agrees to help Claire (Anja Savcic), the drug-addicted daughter of wealthy and recently widowed Jane Wilkes (Anna Galvin).

The series was created by Peter Farrelly and Bobby Mort, and while the notion of a lovable curmudgeon is hardly new, “Loudermilk” stands out for several reasons, first among them, the show’s beautifully realized scripts, followed closely behind by fascinating performances by Livingston, Savcic and others. Clearly, the writers have paid as much attention to the minor characters as they have the leads. There is an easy naturalism woven nicely into the show, with a focus on character as the driving elements of the story.

Speaking of driving, Jason Alexander co-created “Hit the Road” with Peter Tilden and Dean Craig. The series focuses on a family of musicians who drive around the country in a used RV, trying to get any gig they can. The family includes dad Ken (Alexander), a former used-car dealer from King of Prussia, Pa.; mom Meg (Amy Pietz); teenage daughter Ria (Natalie Sharp), who readily uses sex in a vain attempt to advance her career; son Alex (Nick Marini); dopey and doped, diminutive diva Casey (Maddie Dixon-Poirier); and adopted son Jermaine (Tim Johnson Jr.), who is given to nosebleeds and desperately wants out of the family band. We can identify.

The concept of the family band as the un-Partridge Family isn’t terrible. The execution is. The humor is nonexistent, the raunchiness misfires, the characters are tiresome, the scripts are childish and the performances embarrassing. The family’s last name is Swallow, which leads to a tedious string of obvious jokes that fall flat.

Given how small the bus is and how many Swallows there are, they make a rule for coexistence: no “No. 2s” in the RV. Unfortunately, there is a lot of No. 2 on “Hit the Road.” In fact, the show is full of it.
